New Heights!

After hours of looking last Saturday I could not find a simple black sandal, which I have to say was quite frustrating. I am all for fashion and even unique outside the box looks however does anyone feel we have just hit a height of heel that is just a little odd lol... I love the shoes above but who knows when Id wear them. I find some fashion today is more for looks than practicality but oh how I enjoy the view.

Again&Again

When hanging out with my younger brother and his wife a couple of Saturdays ago I was taken to a local treasure again&again. This store was full of color, life and things with stories my favorite! They specialize in refurbishing vintage furnishings found or brought in. You name it them refurbish it.  Now with two locations in Dallas they have expanded the knowledge of vintage goods.  Leslie Pritchard owner loves all things vintage and stylish. “I opened again&again, which offers an ever-changing selection of stylish and hard to find vintage furniture pieces and accessories at affordable prices. I search markets far and wide to unearth unique and one-of-a-kind treasures. Some of the pieces are in excellent vintage condition, some are gently worn, and all have good bone structure and stylish lines, and can be modernized with chic, yet practical updates. I have assembled a dynamic team of talented craftsmen, all of whom love vintage furniture as much as me, to provide in-house facelifts with coats of white, black or bright yellow paint, or bold, modern upholstery in shades of turquoise, hot pink or chartreuse.” I would recommended popping by if in need of new décor with a fresh look, or a little bit of vintage style.

Decide What to Be and Go Be It!

Very grammatically incorrect title I know but I have made it my theme song for this summer. I heard it in a song suggested to me by a really good friend, its by The Avett Brothers called Head Full of Doubt/ Road Full of Promise. I am determined to do just that and share with you all everything that makes me tick, keeps me driven, and inspires me to go forward on this road that God has blessed me with. It's amazed me what happens when you replace fear with curiosity and faith! Here is a glimpse of my journey thus far its been a trip.

The Art of a Doodle!

A "Doodle is an unfocused drawing made while a person's attention is otherwise occupied. Doodles are simple drawings that can have concrete representational meaning or may just be abstract shapes. Stereotypical examples of doodling are found in school notebooks, often in the margins, drawn by students day dreaming or losing interest during class. Other common examples of doodling are produced during long telephone conversations if a pen and paper are available." Okay so who knew there was such a technical term for what you do when you're bored, or just trying to clear your mind but, I can say some of my favorite art pieces are ones that look like one continuous doodle. Most of my work now a days is more restrained and modern but if you asked me what I do in my free time just for creativity I'd say more often than not "i doodle." I'm always thrilled to see this practice put to work by some of my favorite artists, stationery companies, and as of late textiles.

Charley Harper, Illustration&Interior Design

Charley Harper was a Cincinnati based American Modernist artist. He was best known for his highly stylized wildlife prints, posters and book illustrations.Born in Frenchton, West Virginia in 1922, Harper's upbringing on his family farm influenced his work to his last days. "When I look at a wildlife or nature subject, I don’t see the feathers in the wings, I just count the wings. I see exciting shapes, color combinations, patterns, textures, fascinating behavior and endless possibilities for making interesting pictures. I regard the picture as an ecosystem in which all the elements are interrelated, interdependent, perfectly balanced, without trimming or un-utilized parts; and herein lies the lure of painting; in a world of chaos, the picture is one small rectangle in which the artist can create an ordered universe." I share this vision and have been blessed to be shown the scope of these possibilities through his remarkable work. Although he passed on in 2007, I have continued to discover the endless legacy of  his work and abilities through print, children's books, interior design, and the list goes on.

Here We Go! Time to kick start inspiration!

This is my very first post and can not tell you all how excited I am to share with you all that is Vintage Flair, or should I say me, Candace Evangeline Hale. People find it strange I list my middle name but I go by both but enough about that on with the post. My main goal with this blog is to display, what inspires me and what I do with that inspiration. I have many hats as you may have read listed in my "what makes me tick section" and try to find outlets for all. So with that said I am constantly searching out articles on other artists, trends, colors, and imagery to inspire that next big idea and by sharing that with you all hopefully spurring on your creativity as well! Look forward to getting to know all of you and enjoy!!
